Are Your Pets In Need of A Chigger Treatment?

I have been searching of the ultimate chigger treatment for a long long time. I have ve been the victim of so many chigger attacks I feel like I must have “chigger bait” written on me somewhere and those silly chiggers can read.

I learned after many years of sad experience, that dogs and cats carry chiggers pretty much like a mother possom carries her young. That is fastened to them anywhere they can hang on. I had never given a thought to pets being a carrier of misery.

Is it any wonder everytime a body pets or holds or hugs their pets after the pet has been outside for a romp they might have an attack of chiggers. All this while they just know they have not been out in the grass or in the woods.

“Where in the world did those chiggers come from?” Now you know. Do not pet your pet if they have been out beating the bush where chiggers live.

If you want a really good dose of chiggers just park yourself where your pet has been roosting after being outside.

It is necessary to perform a chigger extermination on your pet before you let them back in the house. There are some oils you can apply to your pet to help deter chiggers from hitching a ride on them. Or you can bath them with pretty hot, soapy water if you desire.

(I do not recommned flea collers and such for your pets. They carry deadly toxins and you are exposing your pets and their health to these toxins. If you truly love your pet, find something natural to indoctrinate them.)

If you have been doing this thing, letting your pets back in the house and you are getting chigger bites the best advice I can offer is move out of the house.

Actually, after you have decided on how to handle the pet issue you may need to clear up the chigger problem in the house.

Wash all of your exposed linen in really hot water with good soap and water and a shot of bleach. And dry on high heat. And I do mean anything exposed to your pets.

Did I mention you should also wash your contaminated clothing the same way? No? Do I really need to?

As for upholstery, I would suggest some kind of steam cleaning for upholstered furniture and the carpets.

I know how you feel. Been there and done that. I feel your pain and frustration of trying to find a chigger treatment that works, much less a natural chigger treatment that works. So it is my desire to pass on the benefit of my experience. Use it and pass it on if it is useful to you.

There are several troubles that cats will have to manage with. One such trouble are cataracts. This is when the lens of the cat’s eye is keeping light to be directed to and refocused by the retina behind the eye. Instead the lens will appear opaque.

There are contrasting things that may induce this condition. In certain cats it is hereditary or might be linked to another condition that they are hurting from. The bulk of them are caused when there is a redness inside of the eye – which have the ability to be stimulated by trauma or other critical eye problems. Unlike in dogs the cataracts that cats have are not frequent and normally do not come about due to old age.

Warning Signs

In order to know whether or not your cat has this trouble you must be able to distinguish the warning signs of it. The most ordinary of these include a bluish to white color that is within the eye. They will often begin to run into objects or furniture or might be fearful to try to jump on or off furniture. Redness and inflammation might be within or round the eye and you might find them squinting a great deal.

Treatment

If you observe any of these warning troubles in your cat than you have to take them to the vet immediately. They will be able to analyze and diagnose the problem. They will also help you to discover the best course of treatment – which will usually aid to fix the underlying trouble that is causing it.

If the cat eye cataracts are being caused by inflammation in the eye than they will utilize anti-inflammatory medicines to treat it along with antibiotics. Regrettably there is nothing they can do to reverse the results of them or to shrink them. The only method to take away them is with surgery.

You might think that fleas are nothing more than a minor irritant, like mosquitoes, but if you’ve ever seen a dog with a severe flea infestation, you’ll think otherwise.

Dogs can develop skin allergies, balding, skin rashes, dermatitis and other conditions including worms if fleas are not controlled. In severe cases, the dog will become restless.

Flea bite allergy is a common condition that causes the dog to scratch incessantly. If the scratching does not provide sufficient relief, the dog will bite at his skin and tear out patches of hair trying to get rid of the itch.

Dogs can become extremely irritated and sensitive to other disturbances, such as a family member attempting to play with the dog or even to pet him. Dogs in distress are likely to bite family members out of frustration.

It’s important, therefore, to make sure that your dog is clear of fleas. This can be difficult if your dog has the run of the yard or goes on frequent trips to the park or is allowed to run free. Fleas are everywhere and are spread by wild animals. Squirrels are a particularly troublesome source as they tend to carry them from nest to ground on a regular basis.

While it’s not feasible to eliminate fleas from your yard, it is relatively easy to rid them from inside your house and from your dog.

There are many products available that will do the trick. You can get flea collars for your pet, use a flea spray or bathe your dog with flea soap. Some products that you give your dog orally will protect your dog for up to a year. If you have multiple pets, treat them all so the fleas have nowhere to hide and cannot be transferred to your treated animals.

Of course, treating the dog isn’t enough. Fleas jump off your dog from time to time and hide in carpets, bedding, and other soft materials. If your dog has his own chair or is allowed on your furniture, the fleas will take refuge there until feeding time. Then, they will seek the closest source of food which includes humans, dogs and other household animals.

To be sure you get rid of as many fleas as possible, take the animal bedding outside and shake it out, then spray it well with a flea repellent. Better yet, wash it if possible. Spray into the carpets and along the baseboards of your rooms, especially those where the dog and any other house pets hang out.

Follow the directions on the flea treatment products for best results. It will likely take several treatments before the fleas are all gone, but they will return. It’s important to maintain monthly spraying during the warm months when fleas proliferate to ensure the best protection for your animals and your family.

Domesticated dogs, much like humans, like to be pampered and comfortable. A dog bed is just a dog bed before you get one. Your dog will likely take to it like a fish to water. A ‘cuddly’ cushion makes a good dog bed. It extends the sides to form a protective ring and simulates the feeling of sleeping in a pack. This gives your dog the added psychological comfort for a good sleep.

It is a great idea to buy a dog bed. There are certain benefits that a dog bed provides. It gives your dog a comfortable sleep zone, in the same way a mattress does for a human. The ideal dog bed raises the dog above the ground, provides warmth and supports the joints of the dog. A whole range of dog beds is available. From expensive sofas that heat and cool as required to simple foam filled cushions, there is a dog bed for every dog and every level of spending. Some dog beds are filled with chips of cedar. These discourage the growth of fleas. Fabric that is machine washable makes washing easier.

Plastic, rattan and wicker are used in the making of dog beds. Rattan and wicker dog beds are constructed as low profile round or oval baskets fitted with a custom-made cushion. Plastic is often used in the same manner to make beds. Care should be taken however to see that it is chew resistant and without sharp edges. Stainless steel is used in beds that are more expensive. This is easy to clean.

Beds should use fabric that is resistant to chewing and easily washable. Some beds use foam or polyester fiber as filling. Though these are comfortable, they do not stop the laying of flea eggs. Dog beds that act against egg laying fleas have an outer zippered covering of cedar chips. These are less comfortable than other types of beds, but more functional.

Some dog beds offer the option of heating and cooling. They do this through a heated or frozen gel pad fitted within the cushion. This is not a good idea for canines that have the habit of chewing furniture. Some dog beds heat in the manner of an electric blanket that is placed on top of the bed and under the dog. These warmers are necessary for some dogs, particularly ones with joint issues.

A dogs sleeping environment should duplicate its natural sleeping habitat. The bed’s size should be proportionate to the dog. It should be large enough but not overly large. It should make the dog feel natural and unthreatened. For those who want the perfect custom-made bed for their dog or want one cheaper than would otherwise be available, the option of making a custom dog bed is always available. Here is one way to make such a bed.

You will need a string, pillow cover or tee shirt and plastic grocery bags. Choose designs that look best to your eye. Fill up the pillow cover with the grocery bags and sew it up. You can do this with the t-shirt as well. Optionally sew a zipper onto the pillow cover or t-shirt and periodically fill it with plastic bags, as you like.

A good dog bed can provide all the rest your dog needs to remain healthy and happy. A healthy and happy dog means more fun-filled hours for you with your dog. In short, a good dog bed is a small price to pay for what you get in return.
