2) Find out rather or not your pet is allowed into your new country. Some countries won’t allow pets into their country at all. Other countries will allow it, but there are certain papers, requirements, etc. Find out exactly what is involved before you plan to move your pet.

3) Find out the requirements of your new country. Every country has their own set of rules and regulations for moving pets. For example, if you move your pets to England, your pets must have a six month quarantine period, micro-chipping, blood testing and up-to-date shots. You have to take specific routes and airlines. There also has to be last minute testing for ticks and tapeworm. And all of this is just for England! So, be sure and check for your specific country. 4) See your veterinarian to get the required vaccinations, health certifications, and advice. Most countries require at least a Veterinary Import Permit or certificate from your veterinarian to prove that your pet has been vaccinated recently and is free from all parasites or infections. Also, your veterinarian is who you need to see to get a microchip implanted into your pet, which is a requirement in some countries. Be sure and get a list of every document you will need in your new country. Do not depend on your vet to know this, as something could easily be missed and the moving of your pet can be delayed.

5) Learn if there are quarantine laws in effect for incoming pets. This is probably one of the biggest factors for moving your pet that you will have to consider. Your pet may have to be quarantined for up to six months within a facility in your new country. Make sure you understand everything about your new country’s quarantine laws, as this whole process can be stressful to both pets and their owners.

6) How will you move your pet? Most people who used to move their pets sedated them to help make the flight less stressful. However, there have been some problems with sedation and even though the move may be stressful, the majority of people agree that it’s safer than sedating them. Some pets have had breathing problems due to the sedatives and some pets have even died. These are areas that you can discuss with your veterinarian.

7) Will you be using a pet travel container? It is important to have a crate that is well ventilated and is large enough for your pet to sit, stand and lie down comfortably. Also, some air lines will allow your pet to travel in the airplane’s cabin, if the cage is small enough to fit under your seat. Otherwise, your pet will need to be flown in the cargo bay, so be sure and ask about the air pressure and temperature in that area of the plane. Be sure and find out the requirements of your airlines, as they also vary in what animals they allow and the sizes of the cages.

8) Count the cost. It is pricey to ship animals overseas for many reasons. The vaccinations, certificates, quarantine costs and other unavoidable expenses can add up rather quickly. Even the airline cost for moving your pet can be expensive, depending on where the pet will be during the flight and the size of the crate.

9) Consider a pet relocation service. There are many good services that are specifically for helping you relocate your pets. Often, these services will actually save you money in the long run because they know the best deals and can lead you through the process in the right manner.

10) Your pets will be stressed too. When you finally move your pets, be sure and take along some of their favorite items, such as toys and blankets. Remember that your pet will be in a new place, so be sure and keep them in the house or fenced in so they don’t run away.

3. Remember that dogs (like humans) do make mistakes. The important thing is to correct the mistakes WHILE they are occurring – later is too late.
4. Lavishly praise and reward the behaviors you want to establish as you see them occurring during your puppy training sessions – and continue to reward whenever you see the behavior occur. This will lead to a snowballing effect: the more you reward appropriate behaviors the more they will occur – the more opportunity you will have to reward good behavior…
5. Don’t stretch dog or puppy training sessions out too long for you or your dog. Ten or fifteen minute sessions are plenty for most pups. And be aware that several short sessions are much more effective than one long marathon session. In fact, long marathon sessions are more likely to discourage you both and make you both want to give up.
6. Make your dog and puppy training time fun and positive. This should be a positive bonding experience for you and your pup.
7. Short dog training sessions are best – but sessions should occur frequently. Twice a day would be good – but once a day, every day, should be the absolute minimum for training your puppy.
8. Always end dog training sessions on a positive successful note. If either you or your dog are not in the mood for a training session, make the session short and easy that day. Only practice things you know your dog enjoys and will gladly do successfully at those times. Don’t make any session a struggle. Save the more difficult tasks for times when both you and your pup are in the proper frame of mind.
9. Reward works better than punishment. Use this knowledge to positively ‘shape’ your dog’s behavior. To do this, begin by rewarding your pup’s behaviors that come closer and closer to the precise behavior you’re trying to establish.
10. Correct inappropriate behavior from the beginning. Things that might seem cute for a puppy to do are totally unacceptable behavior for a full grown dog. Correct these behaviors from the start with your puppy – before habits form. The longer the behavior occurs the stronger the habit forms – the more difficult it will be to eliminate the behavior. Nip it in the bud!

We all know that cats are loving and truly wonderful creatures.  These days, it isn’t out of the ordinary to see a cat in virtually every other home, sleeping in the window or cuddling up on the laps of their owners.  Although cats have been popular pets for as long as most can remember, they weren’t domesticated less than 5,000 years or so ago.  Domestication took place in the valley of the Nile, which is what research tells us today.

In the beginning, people were very grateful to cats and encouraged them to stay with them by feeding them various scraps of food.  Once they were fed and perceived humans to be no threat, the cats would move in permanently with their human owners.  As time went by, even the wildest of cat would allows humans to approach him, often times even hold and touch as well.

In those days, cats were very loyal and endearing pets.  They proved to be great hunters, as they done their sleeping in short periods and were much easier to wake up than dogs.  Cats also have better night vision than dogs, and much better hearing as well.  If someone moved through the house or if they heard suspicious noises, they would wake while dogs would sleep right through it.  Humans loved having cats around, and they seemed to get along good with dogs as well.

These days, cats are used for both companionship and show.  They aren’t used much at all for hunting mice and rodent anymore at all.  There are a lot of breeds available, from the traditional alley cat to the well known Siamese.  All breeds are unique in their own way, and will provide you with years of companionship if you take care of them.

There’s no mistaken the fact that cats are great to own.  You can get a kitten from a reputable breeder, through a local newspaper, or an adoption agency.  Cats can also be obtained from a local pound, although people normally don’t like to choose this option.  No matter which way you decide to pursue, you should always make sure that your cat is healthy.  If you get a healthy cat, you won’t have a lot of problems later on down the road.  Healthy cats were taken care of – and normally have everything up to date – including their vaccinations.

The normal gestation period of a Siamese Cat is about sixty-five days, although this may vary a day or two either side.
