So now you’ve purchased some tropical fish. You’ve made sure you have selected healthy fish and you have done your homework to make sure the fish that you have will go together.

Your fish should have been packed in a plastic bag with oxygen and then put into a dark bag or polystyrene box to keep the heat in.

You should try and buy fish no longer than a couple of hours away. Fish can last over 24 hours if packed right but the longer you keep them in transit the more stress they go through. You should try and keep stress to a minimum to make sure the fish remain healthy.

Once you get them home you should float the bags in the water and then open the bags up. This will help equalize the temperature between the water in the tank and the water in the bag. You should also keep adding little bits of tank water to the bag. Add just a little and then leave for five minutes before adding more. This will help acclimatize the fish to the water chemistry of the tank and even the ph and water hardness out.

After doing this for about 20 to 30 minutes you should then gently release the fish to the tank and let them swim out of the bag on there own. Then you should leave them with the aquarium light on overnight. This will reduce stress because the fish can see where they are swimming and there surroundings and they will also see that there are no predators around.

You should not feed them for around 24 hours to let them settle in and then over the next few days only feed sparingly. It will take them a couple of days to get used to the tank and feeding.

It is a good technique to add the smallest and weakest fish to the tank first. This will prevent bullying in the aquarium between the fish. Please follow these keeps to keep the stress of your new tropical fish to a minimum. This will help the fish settle in faster and in the end cause you less stress.

While parents cannot control every event, there are measures and precautions you can take to help your child avoid a dog bite. Teaching your child prevention techniques may save him/her from a traumatic attack. For example, children often become excited and rambunctious around dogs, running around and hugging the animal. This can make dogs nervous and cause them to lash out in a violent manner. Teach your child to behave in a more subdued and calm manner around dogs, as this will help calm the animal?s nerves and instinctual responses.

Also, make sure your child always asks the dog?s guardian for permission before petting the animal. Teach your child to then approach the dog slowly and let the animal sniff him/her before petting it. In addition, teach your child how to properly pet a dog. Most dogs prefer to be petted gently on their backs and sides and can become anxious or angry when a child is petting wildly.

It is important to know the behavioral instincts of dogs to help prevent attacks. Dogs are naturally protective of property and their owners. Therefore, teach your child not to pet a dog that is playing with a toy, as the dog may think the child is trying to take it. Likewise, your child should know not to pet a dog behind a fence because the dog may become protective of its property and lash out. Dogs can also become protective of their space when riding in vehicles, so children should also be careful about petting them in a car.

While children most often interact with family?s and neighbors? pet dogs, they may encounter stray dogs. As such, it is important to teach them a few basic techniques to avoid an attack. First, they should know to never make direct eye contact with the animal. Teach your child to come to a standstill if a strange dog approaches. Never run away from a dog! Rather, teach your child to back away slowly from the animal and avoid sudden movements.

Of course, not all dog bites and attacks can be avoided. Even if you and your children take every precaution around dogs, some animals will still attack. In the event of an animal attack, seek medical attention immediately, especially if the dog is a stray. Even wounds that seem minor can easily become infected if not properly treated.

From the moment you first take ownership of your new puppy or kitten right up until it is time to say goodbye to them, it is important to be proactive with your cat or dog’s health. You need to be vigilant and on the lookout for any warning signs that might indicate health problems.

This doesn’t mean to say that you have to take them to the vet every time they cough. What is does mean is that it is down to you to take responsibility for your dog or cat’s health. You need to learn about some common health complaints that can cause problems for your pet. You need to know about the symptoms and you need to know about how you can treat these problems if and when they do occur.

You need to be prepared in case of a major emergency that requires veterinary treatment, but you also need to be prepared in case of a minor emergency that you can deal with at home. Problems like diarrhea and constipation, ringworm and ear mites can all be treated at home if you can spot the problems and have the products at hand to treat them.

Equally importantly, you need to be proactive about prevention. If you strive to keep your dog or cat healthy and active all year round then they are much more likely to stay free from these minor health complaints that many pets suffer from. If you make sure that they are fed on a quality diet that is high in raw and unprocessed ingredients and if/when they do eat manufactured food, it is of a premium quality. They get exercise daily and drink lots of water.

There are also preventative measure that you can take in other areas. Are they groomed often and checked for fleas and ticks. Do you use a number of natural flea prevention techniques? Do you wash their bedding, bowls and toys periodically? Do you shampoo and bathe your dog (but not too often)? Do you clean their outer ears regularly?

If you are doing all these things, then you are much less likely to have a sick cat or dog. Healthy and happy animals will fight off more minor diseases and infections.

Your cats and dogs place their trust in you to look out for their health needs. There are certain things that they can’t do for themselves. So it is your responsibility to be proactive with your pet’s health.

I must have been asked this very simple question more times than I care to remember so lets cut to the chase.

In this example we will use reward based training for your puppy.

These techniques will also work with an adult dog.

• Start the training as SOON as you have bought your puppy do NOT leave it a few days and then start training.
• Remember that a puppy will have zero attention span – One minute he will be giving you those puppy dog eyes gazing at you lovingly and next he will be attacking your shoes.
• Be patient – he’s just a baby.
• If you are working with an adult or older puppy/dog – remember you may be dealing with years of bad habits, and will take time to unlearn or undo these habits. Be patient while he learns your new rules.
• You may find the initial training a bit tedious – but stick with it.

 Ok lets get the environment ready for the training process – SUPERVISION

• You are in charge – so get the environment right – this will tell your puppy/dog who’s in charge and set the right tone. You don’t want him to have the chance to practice behavior you don’t want.
• If your puppy/dog never has the chance to eliminate inside you are creating a positive, consistent education environment.
• He will get into the habit of going outside to eliminate and you will reward him every-time.
• You have created the environment so it;s up to you to make sure that he never has the chance to eliminate in the House/environment.
• To prevent accidents – you need to watch him like a hawk – If you have a toy breed it won’t take a second for him to pee – so I mean it watch him like a hawk.
• For every accident that your puppy/dog has inside he is practicing behavior that YOU don’t want – and you are both taking a step backwards.
• Even a few seconds without supervision could set back the training process- I know it sounds daunting but it will work.
• Once you have created your environment, it will become a habit for you to watch your dog and manage the environment.
• You will be learning the routine together

Beagles are wonderful family companions. But, is it following its beagle training? We know that not all dogs are absolutely obedient no matter how hard you tried to teach them techniques especially using the bathroom in the proper areas.

Some people think that animals are not following instructions to show vengeance in your beagle training efforts. It’s just a misconception! It’s just that, dogs are only capable for simple, direct emotions, such as being happy, sad or scared. They don’t have the mind and the heart to seek revenge for every pain coming from your hand or from every verbal punishment you issued when he accidentally dropped his dirt into your spotless floor in the living room.

However, dogs remember and draw upon past experiences that they associate with current situations. But you should understand that these associations only create an emotion in which they will feel when going through a similar experience.

Just like the previous example, you punish your beagle for dropping his dirt somewhere in your living room area. If you continue to scold him for this behavior, then he may eventually develop bathroom problems. Your dog might think that letting out his dirt will mean punishment from you.

That is why it is important to avoid punishing or yelling at your Beagle when he accidentally drop his thing inside the house. Housetraining problems are usually the result of owners instilling fear in their pets when they go potty on the floor. This causes strain that could possibly halt your training efforts.

The best thing to do is trying not to react to what happened. Just remove your dog from the area and calmly take him outside. Do not let him see you cleaning up his mess. Quietly clean the area using products specifically made to remove animal stains. You can also use an enzyme-containing cleaner, a vinegar or a liquid soap. It is important to remove all the odor so that you dog will not urinate and mark the same spot again and again. Just a tip, avoid using ammonia because its has the same smell as that of a dog’s urine and can stimulate him to pee in the same area.

Despite your best Beagle training efforts, if he is still unable to follow, the best solution is to visit your veterinarian for a complete check up of your dog to find out the reason for his inability to become trained. There might be some health-related reasons for this problem.
