If you have ever had a puppy then you know that they will go through teething, like a minor, and they will chew on just about everything that’s in your puppies reach, but they always seem to love to chew on their bed more than anything else which is why you need the chew proof dog bed. The West Highland White Terrier is the number one pet in the – India and I would bet that it might be number 39 in the world as well. That’s because a Kerry Blue Terrier will bring so much into your life!

When we are born some of the best parents will purchase a Yorkshire Terrier for their child to grow up with and protect them through their early years. A mistake would be to buy the Bichon Frise mattress before you even bring the Giant Schnauzer home. When your picking out a chew proof Brussels Griffon bed you will need to think about the fact that your new Eurasian is likely to chew on the bassinet at some point in time. Chew proof crates and Tibetan Terrier beds are where you shoulf be starting.

Pet beds, the choice is obvious –

Aside from thinking about the chewing factor, remember to make sure that your Borzoi cot is going to be big enough for your Borzoi, its better to have a bassinet too big than 29 too small. Since this couch will be in your house for many years you should make sure everyone enjoys the colors and materials you choose. While the amount you want to spend will determine how much couch you can buy make sure to look the many different pet beds like the othopedic or luxury Old English Sheepdog beds.

Your Shar-Pei can die from choosing a cheap none chew proof German Shepherd couch –

Many material can kill your Great Dane including those made in cheap Bouvier des Flandres beds, for peace of mind choose a chew proof Australian Shepherd bassinet. With the wires running through some heated Chihuahua beds people should be aware of the possibilities of electricution. A chew proof Dachshund mattress will help to keep your Mastiff area clean and neat looking, even if it tries to take a bite once in a while.

This is why your Irish Setter chews –

As your new puppy goes through teething it will lay its teeth into just about anything and that includes its cradle. That’s why its important for you to look for a chew proof Whippet couch. Trust me, its better than waking up in the morning to a house full of fluff from the Basenji cot, not to mention the cost of replacement. It might also be a good idea to find a chew proof Pointer crate as well. Although you should never crate your Old English Sheepdog for more than a few hours at a time, it can really help to save your belongings as they work through their teething stage.

Keep in mind that a Great Dane will never forget that it likes to chomp on things and although having toys for it to chew will help, some Welsh Terrier will continue to chew and maybe even start to shred their beds as they get older. So although the chew proof dog bassinet is some for puppies its also a surprisingly good option for older Japanese Chin with a chewing issue.

Once all the research, planning and waiting is complete and the aquarium is full of water and has finally finished cycling you will finally be ready to introduce your first fish.

It is important to ensure that you make the right choice though as there are some fish which are suitable to be added at this stage and there are fish which are not.

Do you know what you are looking for in the selection of your first fish?

Firstly and foremost the fish you choose must be relatively hardy. The reason for this is that the saltwater aquarium is new and the water will not be completely stable. Another reason is that as aquarists we all make mistakes at one time or another and with having a hardy fish they are more forgiving to these mistakes.

You will probably have an idea as to the type of fish you would like to keep in your aquarium therefore it is imperative that this fish you choose now will be compatible with future tank mates. If you added an aggressive fish for example at the start then whenever you decided to add a new fish there would be fighting in the aquarium. Not what you want at this stage really is it.

Which fish are good fish to start with?

Below is a list of what I believe to be good starter fish for a saltwater aquarium. They are all relatively hardy, peaceful and none of them have special feeding requirements.

* Clownfish
* Orchid Dottyback
* Royal Gramma
* Blenny
* Chromis
* Firefish

Lets have a look at each of these in a little more detail :

Clownfish

The clownfish to me is a fantastic little fish. The way it swims, the way it lives in corals etc and especially the colours – a great addition to any aquarium. They are also one of the most popular starter fish. They are quite hardy and are very well suited to captive life in an aquarium.

You can keep these singularly or you can keep them in pairs. When kept in pairs the most dominant fish sometimes will turn into a female and the two may even end up breeding.

There is a mis-belief that clown fish must be kept with an anemone. This simply is not the case. Clownfish will be more than happy in an aquarium without one. Anenomes are quite hard to keep and at this stage of the aquariums life the aquarium is not yet ready for one, possibly neither are you.

There are various species of clownfish, however the best ones to start with are :

* Common clown (Amphiprion ocellaris)
* Black and white clown (Amphiprion ocellaris)
* Percula clown (Amphiprion percula)

Clownfish can be purchased tank bred and if this is an available option it is recommended that you follow this option.

Orchid Dottyback

The orchid dottyback (Fridmani pseudochromis) is a relatively peaceful fish which grows to around 3-4 inches in length. The good thing about the orchid dottyback is that they can be purchased tank bred.

One thing to be noted is that you should not mix this fish with other fish of the same shape (ie the royal gramma below) or with other dottybacks.

Once the fish has become accustomed to life in your aquarium it will become quite bold and swim happily around the aquarium.

Royal Gramma

Royal grammas (Gramma Loreto) are a peaceful fish with the exception of their own kind and are very colourful fish with the colours changing from purple to yellow along the fish’s body.

There are other fish which can easily be confused with the Royal Gramma as they look very similar so ensure that it actually is a Royal Gramma prior to purchasing it.

Blenny

There are a couple of blennies which in my opinion make good additions to the aquarium as starter fish and there are the Midas Blenny (Ecsenius midas) and the Bicolour Blenny (Ecsenius bicolor).

These are both fantastic to watch. They both like to either rest on a ledge or find a hole and simply watch the world go by.

Chromis

Chromis (Chromis viridis) are great to add to an aquarium. They are relatively hardy and if you have a larger aquarium then you can add a small group. They normally come in two colours (blue and green).

One of the good things about chromis is that they do not grow to be that large. They normally do not grow larger than 2 inches in length.

Firefish

The normal firefish (Nemateleotris magnifica) and then purple firefish (Nemateleotris decora) are great starter fish to add to the aquarium. Both of these are very colourful fish which grow to a maximum size of about 4 inches.

The firefish has a large dorsal fin which it uses to lock itself into a hole in the rocks which is normally down at the bottom. This hole is where the fish retires to when the lights go out but it also uses it when it becomes startled. These fish are prone to jumping when startled therefore you need to take care to prevent this.

Unless you can locate an established pair I would recommend that these are kept singularly.

postheadericon Ferrets are fussy eaters, but by offering them a well-balanced diet they will not only eat well, they will thrive

Ferrets are fussy eaters, but by offering them a well-balanced diet they will not only eat well, they will thrive. Ferrets can develop grave health issues with diets lacking in nutritional value, which has been shown to cause sickness and shortened life expectancies. It’s critical to give foods that will help them remain energetic and healthy throughout their lives. As a final reflection, it has always been fascinating to me that a ferret will decline to dine on frozen meat, but then turn right around and eat furnishings or plastic toys.

If you’re on a small budget and searching for a way to save some cash, providing your pet cheap food is normally not the best way to save. Yes, it will be more high-priced getting the high quality brands, but since ferrets consume so little at each meal, your total food expense will still be miniscule.

Ferrets are not very big so they won’t eat a large amount at any one meal, and hence should be offered two or three smaller meals every day as an alternative to one big one. Even though they nap as much as 20 hours each day, they are extraordinarily active creatures while awake and will certainly burn a sizeable amount of calories during the course of their active periods. Due to this fact they need to be offered a high calorie diet if you would like them to remain active and healthy.

You can provide your ferret a dry or a moist food. Moist may be prized a little more, but dry has lots of advantages. You cannot leave moist food in their cage for more than 60 minutes, due to the fact that it will not remain good for any longer than this. When it gets too old it ought to be removed from the cage and disposed of. Conversely, you don’t have this concern with dry pellets due to the fact that it will stay good for days. This will probably reduce the cost of food, because the dry food will not need to be thrown out. Another advantage to dry pellets is that they can help keep a ferret’s teeth clean.

Ferrets will derive enjoyment from a tasty treat now and then, but it’s essential not to overdue it. Seeing as they will usually eat a minute amount at a time, they can fill up on snacks quickly and then reject their high quality meal. This can in due course lead to nutritional deficiencies that can cause illness and a loss of vibrancy.

Yummy snacks are never essential, but if you decide you want to provide tasty treats, be certain you do it in moderation. The ideal snacks are high protein foods like cooked eggs and meat. Foods like candy and fruits that are high in carbohydrates don’t make first-class nutritional snacks. These can often lead to health issues and a decrease of vigor.

As far as overall healthiness is concerned, a ferret requires meals that are low in carbohydrates while being high in fat and protein. Providing foods that are lacking in nutritional content can result in considerable health problems and a decreased life expectancy. If you love your ferret, demonstrate you care by providing a high quality nutritious diet.

postheadericon At some stage in your life as a horse owner, you may find it necessary to stable your horse

At some stage in your life as a horse owner, you may find it necessary to stable your horse. It may only be for a couple of nights, a week or a more permanent situation. No matter your reason or the length of your horses stay, it is important that you clean the stable at least once a day.

So you arrive at your horse’s stable with a cheery “Good Morning!”. You organize their breakfast, change there pajamas (rugs), maybe go for an early morning ride (nice and chilly on those crisp winter mornings). But no matter what else you do, there is one thing every owner of a stabled horse must do. And that is to clean up the mess, from the night before.

What a mess!! It really amazes me the mess one horse can make within 8-10 hours! I have been greeted with a wide variety of “Good Morning” situations from my horses over the years. From finding poo in the feed dish (which is still hanging on the door!), to finding poo right in front of the door in the walk way! No matter the mess, it still needs to be cleaned up. Not only can a dirty or poorly cleaned stable cause diseases to fester but it will smell bad too.

Here are some simply steps to help you in cleaning out your stable!

You will need a good stable fork/rake and a wheelbarrow or bucket.

It is always helpful if you can remove your horse from the stable. This way you aren’t worried about him/her escaping. If you can’t make sure they are tied up securely.

Remove any other objects which may get in your way, such as water buckets and horse toys.

Using your stable fork/rake remove all large visible piles of poo.

Remove any obvious wet patches.

Starting on either your left or right in a circular pattern around the stable, toss a fork full of stable bedding towards the side of the stable, remove any poo or wet that this process uncovers.

Remember to dig down to the floor so that all the bedding gets exposed, and continue till you are back to where you started.

Your stable bedding should now be all piled up around the sides of the stable and the floor exposed. If the floor seems wet (will be in most cases) it is great if you can leave it exposed for a few hours to dry out.

Starting at either the right or left, pull the bedding down from the edge with your stable rake, so that the bedding comes back to its original level and covers the previously exposed floor. Continue around till you are back at the start.

You may find that you need to smooth out the bedding so that it is level and covers the floor evenly.

I have always found it a good idea to leave an area in front of the door free from bedding, this will help reduce the bedding that gets ‘walked’ or ‘kicked’ out by your horse.

You may find that when cleaning, some bedding drifts into the water. It is always a good idea to clean out your horses’ water after finishing the stable.

It may be necessary to add some new bedding to you stable, this is usually done once a week, but depends on your horse.

It will also be necessary to remove all bedding from your stable on a regular base. This will depend on numerous factors and is up to your discretion. If it is getting smelly – then its time for a full clean out!

Now that you’re done, you can enjoy some quality time with your beloved horse!

Happy Horsing

postheadericon Here are a few reasons why i like the ugodog dog litter box

Here are a few reasons why I like the UgoDog dog litter box. I’ve seen a lot of boxes and this one really impressed me.

First, what I really like about it is how it is made. it’s hard to find a dog litter box that will support a dog that might be heavy. They use an injection molding process to make the UgoDog and because of that, it can be used by dogs of all weights and sizes. So you don’t have to worry about a maximum weight limit. Now that’s nice if you have a heavy dog!

Next, I like the grate system that they use. It is a very small grid and a dog or puppies’ paws cannot get caught in it. So it’s very safe for your dog. The urine goes through the grate and the dog’s paws stay dry. That’s a great feature because with newspapers or pee pads, a dog will step right in it and can track it throughout the house. That can make a big mess…been there, done that!

Another thing that impressed me is that it is environmentally friendly. You just use newspaper in the bottom and change it out daily. No messy litter to deal with. Newspaper is completely biodegradable and I am really into recycling and the environment.

Did you know that when you use pee pads they are just like a baby diaper and do you know how long they say it takes for a baby diaper to decompose? 500 years give or take! So needless to say, this is a great feature and something to really think about.

Finally, I like the fact that it’s simple and easy to keep clean. I like simple and I love easy! You spray or wipe it down, put in some fresh newspapers and your are ready to go! Now that’s really nice!

Well, that’s my take on the UGoDog dog litter box and I hope it gave you some things to think about.
