postheadericon There was a constant flurry of activity during the last few days of our life in korea

There was a constant flurry of activity during the last few days of our life in Korea. Mom was feverishly sorting through every item we had accumulated as a family and the keepsakes she acquired from her life before a husband and four kids. Whatever she decided to take for our new life in the United States had to fit in one of the large, multicolor plastic bags or the five over-sized suitcases. Everything else we had to leave behind, including our dogs Super and her pup Gome.

Super, who was named after Superman, was a wonderful mutt with an air of confidence and regality. She was gentle, smart and obedient, which were important traits to have for a dog to survive in Korea those days. She was only seven weeks old when dad brought her home to four overly excited kids and one disapproving wife. Mom reluctantly allowed her stay on the condition that she didn’t bark incessantly and didn’t destroy anything, a tall order for a puppy. Super not only kept to these guidelines, she earned the love and respect of my mom.

Super didn’t whine or bark unless to alert us of someone at the door. She didn’t chase small animals, drag in dead things or roll around in poop. She didn’t chew on shoes or the rice paper doors, and most importantly, she knew when to stay out of the way. When mom was busy with chores, Super sat in a corner until the housework was finished. She was one of the smartest dogs I have known and the only dog mom
ever loved.

Gome, which is a Korean word for bear, was the opposite of Super. He was big and furry and always ready to give you a wet, sloppy kiss. His thick clumsy paws abounded with energy he couldn’t control, and he was always in mom’s way. I think if it wasn’t for Super, Gome would have been gone before his first birthday.

Mom pushed off giving our dogs away until just a few days before she completely shut down the only home I remember in Korea. The day they came to take Super and Gome away, mom was standing on the front porch, her head down, with her right hand to her face and her left arm folded across her stomach. Her shoulders were heaving. When she looked up briefly, I could see that her face was soaked with tears. I don’t remember anyone else being there. I was too focused on mom and the dogs.

Super was in her favorite corner and Gome was curled up in the middle of the courtyard. Two sprightly guys came in carrying two leashes. One of the guys put a leash on Gome and led him out. Gome happily followed. The second guy put the leash on Super and had to tug her out of the corner. As he was pulling her across the courtyard, Super plopped her butt on the ground and her legs went limp. The guy had to drag her out. As the guy towed her away, she kept looking back at us, especially mom.  Her sharp eyes were furrowed and you could see the hurt and confusion on
her face.

Mom continued to keep her face down and was now sobbing uncontrollably. Super and Gome were gone. After Super, my mom has not opened her heart to
another dog.

Shortly after that day we were on a jumbo jet headed for America, a place as I was told, where the streets were lined with gold.

postheadericon The alaskan malamute is a stunningly beautiful large breed of dog

The Alaskan Malamute is a stunningly beautiful large breed of dog. The Alaskan Malamute is often used as a sled dog. They can grow up to weigh between seventy five and one hundred pounds, so be sure that you want a big dog before you commit to owning one as a pet.

The Alaskan Malamute, as its name suggests, is best suited for northern climates. This is mainly due to its very thick coat and undercoat. Their coats can be a variety of main colors, such as grey, black, red and sable. The main color is always paired with white in these dogs. If you are looking for a pure bred Alaskan Malamute, it should always have brown eyes. The tail should plume up over the back and have a lot of fur to keep the dog’s face warm in freezing weather while sleeping.
If you are considering an Alaskan Malamute as a house pet, there are a few things to be aware of. They can be great with children, but may not take well to a small child that hurts or teases. Older children in the home are preferred. Alaskan Malamutes are very active as puppies and need a lot of room to run and play. You will need a big yard with a good fence. Alaskan Malamutes can be destructive if ignored or not properly socialized. With some obedience training and proper handling, they usually grow into gentle mild-mannered dogs.

It is important to exercise your dog. Overheating is the main concern and you should be careful about exercising your dog in hot weather. Alaskan Malamutes can easily get too hot in warm climates. Their dense undercoat sheds for warmer weather. Make sure that your dog has plenty of shade and fresh water during warmer months.

Alaskan Malamutes are generally healthy dogs with little health issues to worry about. They eat as much as you give them and can get rather bloated and overweight. They only need a surprisingly small amount of food, so be careful about overfeeding.
Alaskan Malamutes have historically been prized sledding dogs. They were originally bred for sledding and are very powerful animals. They usually have a very sweet disposition as adults and may not make the best guard dogs. They are loyal companions and loved for their friendly mild manners by many owners. They do like to dig, so make sure that your fence is equipped to handle some deep digs and keep your dog in. They are territorial and may not get along well with other dogs. This is especially true with same sex or same breed dogs. They can be raised to accept other pets in the home, even small animals. You will need to properly introduce your dog to smaller pets so that your dog does not see them as prey.

Having an Alaskan Malamute in your life can be a real blessing and add a lot of love to your family. Choose wisely and avoid puppy mills when choosing your dog. Puppy mill dogs tend to have a lot more health and temperament problems. When looking for purebred dogs for sale, please visit www.mydreampuppy.com.

She should visit the veterinarian several times in the first year for shots, boosters and check up. Then, as an adult, she should visit the veterinarian yearly for shots and check up. As she gets older, six years and on, she should visit the veterinarian twice a year for check ups and shots. Remember; avoid feeding your dog sweets.

*Grooming. The Whippet has a smooth, firm, short, close and easy to care for coat. She should be brushed and rubbed down with a damp chamois regularly. Brushing will help her maintain a clean and healthy coat, avoid mats, help you keep a closer eye on her health and strengthen your emotional bond with her.

Her teeth should be brushed at least twice a week with toothpaste and toothbrush designed for dogs. Brushing removes the accumulation of plaque and tartar which can cause cavities (rarely) and periodontal disease. Dog periodontal disease can lead to pain, loss of teeth, bad breath and other serious disease.

Her toenails may need to be examined for growth and clipped regularly. The toenails of the rear feet grow slower than the toenails of the front feet.

postheadericon Big and random bodily blotches

Big and random bodily blotches ?ese are the major characteristics in which the pied cockatiel is known for. This mutation is any color cropping up from solid cockatiel colors. Color quantity and placement differs a single bird to the other. The tint of pied cockatiels has been a result of the feather pattern changes, not a color change. These pied cockatiels are also called as pied tiel, variegated cockatiel and harlequin cockatiel.

The pied upshot in pied cockatiel actually is a large mixture of colors in blotches or patches, such as permutation of whites and greys among grey cockatiels or a blend of yellow and cinnamon on the cinnamon cockatiels. Some stunning birds show a perfect balance of these blotches although it is not always achieved when breeding cockatiels. As a result, the variation of patterns makes it hard to determine between the sexes of pied cockatiel.

The record of this cockatiel mutation is indistinct although it has been established that it was done in California. After the death of the first mutation developer, his stock was acquired by a certain Mr. Hubbell who continued the breeding program until today. Chances are that when you had a pied cockatiel, it comes from the continued mutation which was originally from California.

The pied cockatiel was initially developed by breeders so basically these birds did not come from the wilderness or anywhere. The grey ones are seen among the areas of Australia excluding the Tasmania and Australia’s coasts. As a Cacatuidae family member, they have generally crests. These crests can go erect when these birds are agitated and enthused. Conversely, their crests level goes down significantly when they are angry or defensive.

The genes which have created the pattern in every pied cockatiel give no significant effect on the bird’s coloring. However, the color distribution is the one that is affected. Pied cockatiels have major combinations of grays and whites within random pattern. These mutations can weigh to up to four ounces and more.

Making the pied cockatiel an ultimate desirable pet is because of their behavior ?ey are not loud unlike other parrot species which are not only noisy but also are annoying. You can leave it alone it its cage or location for some time without their behavior being affected negatively. These species are steadfast and affectionate. Likewise, they love to play with toys and to climb perches which you have provided in their cage.
