The Whippet is a sensitive, intelligent and sweet dog. They make good watch dogs. They need plenty of exercise and a safe place to let them run would be ideal. They are generally not to be trusted with other pets as they may consider them fair game. They are said to do well with other canines and children, especially if well socialized when young. As a reminder, never leave a child unsupervised with a puppy or dog.

*Approximate Adult Size. The approximate adult size (two years old or older) of the Whippet is 17 to 20 inches to the withers (highest point of the shoulder) and 18 to 28 pounds.

*Special Health Considerations. Most dog breeds have certain inherited health problems associated with that specific breed and the Whippet is no exception. Be on the look out for skin problems, upset stomach, genetic eye disease and sunburn. This disease list is an informative guideline only. Other diseases may also be significant threats, please contact your veterinarian for a complete list.

She should visit the veterinarian several times in the first year for shots, boosters and check up. Then, as an adult, she should visit the veterinarian yearly for shots and check up. As she gets older, six years and on, she should visit the veterinarian twice a year for check ups and shots. Remember; avoid feeding your dog sweets.

*Grooming. The Whippet has a smooth, firm, short, close and easy to care for coat. She should be brushed and rubbed down with a damp chamois regularly. Brushing will help her maintain a clean and healthy coat, avoid mats, help you keep a closer eye on her health and strengthen your emotional bond with her.

Her teeth should be brushed at least twice a week with toothpaste and toothbrush designed for dogs. Brushing removes the accumulation of plaque and tartar which can cause cavities (rarely) and periodontal disease. Dog periodontal disease can lead to pain, loss of teeth, bad breath and other serious disease.

Her toenails may need to be examined for growth and clipped regularly. The toenails of the rear feet grow slower than the toenails of the front feet.

*Life Span. The Whippet can live between 12 and 15 years with proper nutrition, medical care and excellent living conditions.

*History. The Whippet comes from Great Britain where they were used for hunting fast small game and later radcing. They were first registered by the American Kennel Association in 1888.

Boxer Dogs were created in Germany; Boxer is a breed of stocky, short haired, medium size dog. There can be different kinds of color of a boxer; brindle, fawn with or without white markings. The boxer was bread from the English bulldog and is now part of the Molosser group, which used to be the Bullenbeisser which is now extinct. Boxers have broad yet short skulls, as well as a square muzzle with an under bit. They have very powerful jaws which allow them to hang on to their prey.

Boxers were first discovered at a dog show back in Munich in the year 1895. According the American Kennel Club, boxers dogs are now the sixth most popular dog in the United States for the second year in a row. They used to be the seventh most popular dog dating back from 2002. There are approximately 33,550 new dogs resisted every year.

Boxer Descriptions.

Boxer dogs have the most unique feature as the head is very distinctive. Boxers were originally a “docked and cropped” breed. This is somewhat banned in the United States as many animal rights groups as well as the general public have banned this technique. The do still cut their tails but the crop of the ears has died down. Adult boxer dogs can usually weight between 55 to 70 pounds. Adult’s males are usually a lot taller and weigh more than females. Males can be any where from 22 to 25 inches tall, as females are about 21 to 23 inches. Boxers will either be fawn colored or brindle colored or they can be almost all white. Many boxers have white patches throughout their bodies.

Boxers have extremely shot hair with shiny smooth coat that is extremely tight to their bodies. Boxers can only be bathed once or twice a month to since their hair is so short. Each boxer is unique in its own personal way. .

What is Chihuahua? You must be feeling very much anxious to know the answer. Well, Chihuahuas are the smallest breed of dog in the world. Basically they can be categorized under ‘natural toy breed’. If you throw back your mind in history of the development of this breed then doubted the religious & mythical role of the Techichi in Toltec tribes. But the archaeologists argue that the remains of this breed were found in Mexico and in quite parts of U.S. In short, Chihuahua is a very small dog of a breed originating in Mexico, having pointed ears and a smooth coat.

Chihuahua is a sweet cute little dog with an apple-shaped head with an extraordinary tiny muzzle. It weighs about two to six pounds with height of six to nine inches. Generally Chihuahuas are found with dark glowing eyes. The color of eyes differs as the breed of this tiny dog changes. One peculiar feature of its eyes is that sometimes it sheds tears when Chihuahua shakes its head. Chihuahua’s ears are large and vertical at an angle of about 45 degree. It is said that they often uses their ears for emotions to express their feelings. The fragile physical features shows that how much delicate their body is. Because of unique and smallest cute breed of dog Chihuahua is always seen maintained in an affectionate surrounding. With proper training and socialization it becomes pretty easy for them to adapt easily in a tranquil environment. The soft love for Chihuahua never ends as the innocent face is always in front of you. One unique trait in most of Chihuahuas is the tendency to “burrow” into blankets or clothing in order to sleep.
