As dogs continue to become a more integral part of families, dog products continue to evolve to address the full range of needs for our four legged family members and the desires of their owners. For example, medical insurance for your pet is becoming more and more accepted for mainstream dog owners while in years past the idea of spending thousands of dollars on medical procedures for pets was not common. Another area where there has been some really interesting development is in the area of dog toys. Once dog toys were more focused on simple entertainment for you and your dog, now they are becoming more advanced addressing not only the physical needs of our pets but also go deeper in addressing the mental needs as well.

While certain dog toys will remain timeless, the ball, the rope toy and various chew toys, new dog toys are constantly being developed for our four legged children. The Treatstik is a perfect example of an innovative and evolutionary toy in this current wave of products for dogs that seeks to address deeper needs.

It is a tough nylon treat dispensing toy that gives your dog hours of mentally stimulating fun as your dog rolls the toy and it randomly dispenses hidden treats. It stimulates your dog’s mind, while relieving boredom and separation anxiety. Plus they get a chance to work for their food instead of it just being handed to them in a bowl. Treatstiks are perfect for those days that you leave your dog at home and can not afford to pay for a dog walker or bring your dog to daycare. They will spend a few hours eating their breakfast instead of gnawing on your furniture or shoes or…

It can be used to feed your dog as well. Instead of having your dog rapidly eat their food in a matter of seconds. My Kona would eat so fast we would often see her food seconds after she had gulped it down. The Treatstik forces your dog to eat slowly throughout a longer period of time. So if you have a dog that eats too fast, Treatstiks might be a good way to control your dog’s eating habits.

Since your dog has to eat slowly the Treatstik may help controlling your dog’s weight. They are made from a heavy nylon material and can stand up to strong chewers. It has a large screw cap opening for easy filling and is dishwasher safe. It is made in America by a small family-owned company in Vermont

It comes in two sizes, small which is 6″ long and is best for dogs 10 – 40 lbs. The small holds about a cup of food and the large which is 9″ long and is best for dogs over 40 lbs. The large holds about a cup and half of dog food.

I have two dogs, Lucy a Great Dane and Kona a Chocolate Lab. They both love their Treatstiks and play with them whenever I give it to them. Kona likes her Treatstik a little more than Lucy, but Kona has a tremendous food drive like most labs. I am pretty sure I could feed her a whole bag of dog food and she would watch me very closely as I ate my dinner. She would weigh more than I do if I did not watch the food that she eats.

As dogs become more family members and less viewed as pets we will continue to see changes in the pet industry to address these issues.

postheadericon This article will talk about how to train a lovebird and 3 fun tricks you can teach your lovebird

This article will talk about how to train a lovebird and 3 fun tricks you can teach your lovebird. There are a lot more tricks that you can teach them, but the tricks below are a few basic ones you can start with. Before starting your lovebird tricks training you will want to be comfortable handling your bird, especially if they have any behavioral issues, like biting or fearfulness; it is important to address these things before attempting to teach them the tricks below.

1. Wave: A lovebird can learn many tricks, but if you are just getting started you should start with something simple like the wave. To train them to do the wave, simply ask them to wave and help them hold their foot up. Reward their behavior and keep doing this until they have lifted it on their own. You can reward them with praise and/or treats, just remember to be consistent with the rewards and pretty soon all you will have to do is say the word “wave” and they will do it.

2. Spin: Once you have successfully taught them to wave, you can move on to doing a spin. To get them to spin, use something as a focal point, like a pencil, and have your bird follow the pencil around in a circle. As they turn, say the word “spin” and reward them after they have gone all of the way around. Do this many times until your bird starts to catch on and will do the spin on their own.

3. Flip: A flip may or may not be possible at first; some birds do them on the perch and others can do it while laying in your hand. If you use the hand technique, you will first have to get them lying comfortably on their back in the palm of your hand. To do this, start small and tilt your bird varying degrees with lots of love after each tilt. Once they are comfortable on their back, help them flip over by pushing gently on their tail. Say the word as they go over and reward with a treat each time. With a lot of practice, your bird will start doing this trick on their own when you say the word “flip”.

This article talked about how to train a lovebird and 3 tricks you can start to teach your lovebird today, provided that you have a bird that you can handle with confidence. Some lovebirds have issues that need to be dealt with before any tricks can be attempted; biting or aggressive behavior must be fixed first before tricks can be taught. Once you are comfortable with your bird, teaching them to wave, spin or even do a flip should be fairly easy to do.

There are many different types of parrot breeders available and all offer different breeds of parrots. Like everything you have the chance to purchase parrots from online breeders or offline breeders, depending on where you live. This article will endeavor to explain every question there is about parrot breeding and parrot breeders as well.

Online Parrot Breeders

How do I find parrot breeders online? How do I know if they are reputable or not? These are some of the questions I get asked a lot. Basically it’s extremely easy to find a parrot breeder online. All you have to do is run a search on one of the search engines, using the following information corresponding to your search, “parrot breeders “town or city of choice””. This information will bring up a list of the top breeders online. Now all you have to do is sift through the list and find the most appropriate one for you. Basically most breeders online are going to be reputable, but just to be sure, make sure you are able to give them a phone call and I would recommend talking to them in person before you decide to make a purchase.

Essentially you are looking for a parrot breeder in your area that will allow you to come and check out the parrots he or she has available. Also many breeders will actually deliver the parrots to your doorstep but I wouldn’t recommend doing this. It’s best if you go in person to check out the parrots they have available first and then make your decision from there.

Offline Parrot Breeders

Basically offline parrot breeders are just breeders that don’t advertise online so you won’t be able to find them by running a search on the internet. The best way to find one of these breeders is to contact the local national wildlife center and ask them if they know of any parrots breeders in the area. In many cases there are small time breeders who believe it or not generally have the best parrots available, due to the fact they are so passionate about what they do. Also you should be able to purchase a parrot for much cheaper then if you went through a more commercial breeder.

Things To Be Wary Of

Some of the things you have to be careful of include, making sure the parrot breeder is 100% reputable. You have to make sure you know where the parrots are coming from because in many cases, people have been sold a parrot that has come from the black market. This is just one of the things that is turning people away from purchasing parrots and needs to be addressed as soon as possible. The only type of parrot that should be kept in captivity is a parrot that was born in captivity and doesn’t have the ability to make it in the wild. Black market parrot trading is wrong and should be condemned.
